Ashima Suri

Ashima Suri is an Indo-contemporary social dance activist http://www.ashimasuri.com/, who has used powerful themes to teach workshops across the world. Recently, she choreographed and taught 16 dancers in Osaka, Japan, presenting social themes that are not often spoken about in Japan. Her style of teaching is unique in that she presents not only a different type of workshop style (a hybrid of Indian classical and contemporary dance) but she also integrates storytelling and social issues in performance art. Ashima’s dance workshops are fun, engaging and thought provoking. She has taught in Toronto and India, continuing to make a difference through her work.
