Aastha Gandhi

Aastha Gandhi is an independent performance researcher and a dancer. She researched Odishi dance, its historiography, practice and problems within the established parampara, for her MPhil dissertation (2006-2008), Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. Her subsequent work has been published in the Conference Proceedings of WDA-Global Summit, ‘Dance Dialogues: conversations across cultures, art forms and practices’, Brisbane (2009) and WDA’s ‘Journal of Emerging Dance Scholars’ (2013). Her current area of research engages with city spaces and evolving metaphors of performance at scholarly as well as performance level.

Aastha Gandhi est une chercheuse indépendante en représentation et une danseuse. Ses recherches ont porté sur la danse Odissi – son historiographie, sa pratique et les problèmes rencontrés dans le cadre du parampara traditionnel – pour son mémoire de master (2006-2008) à l’Université Jawaharlal Nehru de New-Delhi, en Inde. L’ouvrage qui en a résulté a été publié dans la Conference Proceedings of WDA-Global Summit : « Dance Dialogues: Conversations Across Culture, Art Forms and Practices », Brisbane (2009) et le Journal of  Emerging  Dance Scholarship de la WDA (2013). Son domaine actuel de recherches a trait à l’espace urbain et à l’évolution des métaphores de la représentation tant au niveau universitaire qu’à celui du spectacle.
