Anja Ali-Haapala

Anja Ali-Haapala is a PhD candidate at Queensland University of Technology (QUT), Australia. Her research shifts the focus from the dance form itself to the audience that experiences it through reception. In her PhD research Anja is exploring open rehearsals within the mainstream dance company context, specifically focusing on audience experience and relationship with the dance work, dancers, and choreographers. Prior to her doctoral study Anja was awarded a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Dance) in 2010 and First Class Honours in 2011 (QUT).

Anja Ali-Haapala est doctorante à l’Université de Techonologie de Queensland (QUT), Australie. Ses travaux de recherche placent le centre de gravité de la danse dans la réception qu’en a le public plus que sur sa forme. Dans ses travaux en vue de sa thèse, Anja explore les répétitions ouvertes dans le contexte traditionnel d’une compagnie de danse, en se concentrant plus spécifiquement sur l’expérience du public et les relations avec le travail de la danse, les danseurs et les chorégraphes. Avant d’engager ses études de doctorat, Anja avait obtenu une licence de Beaux-Arts (Danse) en 2010 et une mention très honorable en 2011 (QUT).
